Choosing Or Picking Your Own Meals In Your Medifast Package: A Look At Design A Menu
Most people order medifast in the form of a monthly package since it’s much cheaper when you calculate the cost per meal and you’re very often offered free food if you have a coupon code or are willing to auto ship your next order.
Of these monthly packages, the women’s five plus one (where you eat six times per day) is the most popular. With this one, you are given 143 meals for the month which include shakes, bars, oatmeals, scrambled eggs, soups, fruit drinks, puddings and cappuccinos. But, what happens if you don’t think you’ll like all of the foods or flavors included? Or, what if you believe that you’d much prefer more shakes and less soup? Do you have to just order your food individually and pay tons more? No, what you’d do instead is order a package using the “Design A Menu” option. Here’s how it works.
A Brief Overview Of Medifast’s Design A Menu Option: Choosing your own foods basically works like this. Once you are on the applicable page, you’re given a list of products (shakes, bars, oatmeals, chili’s and soups, etc.) and all of the flavors available for each item. Each one comes in a box of seven. In order to have enough food to last for an entire month, you’ll need to order twenty boxes of food.
You basically just pick and chose the items and flavors that you like until you’ve reached at least 140 meals. (You’ll eat five of the diet meals per day and one “lean and green” meal that you make on your own.) At the end of the order process, your order form will show you all of the items you’ve chosen and the total cost for each one, as well as the cost for the package as a whole. Although you’ll typically pay a bit more for “design a menu”, it’s usually not significant. In my opinion, it’s better to pay a tiny bit more than to get a package or shipment that contains some foods you may not like.
I realize that some people greatly prefer some foods over another. For example, some people would rather consume more shakes and bars than eggs or soup. Likewise, others are not overly fond of drinking shakes all of the time and would rather stick with the solids like the eggs, oatmeals and stews, or chili’s. Either way is equally effective and all of the foods are designed to be low in calories and carbs. (The company does ask that you not consume more than 1 bar per day, though.)
These food / package choices are personal decisions, but luckily medifast is designed so that you can always chose to buy exactly what you want in the flavors that you like. I would suggest going with the five plus one package for your first order though because this way you’ll get to sample all of foods so you’ll know exactly what you want when it’s time for your next order. And many people are surprised that the foods they guessed they wouldn’t like turn out to be their favorites.
