Taking 2% milk with your protein shake, I was told this is counterproductive, can you clarify?

A nutritionist told me that using 2% milk destroys what you are trying to accomplish by taking a protein shake. (Im paraphrasing, he put it in technical terms, but I hope Im clear on what he was trying to say). He suggested instead to use soy milk or almond milk. Is this true or can I go back to using 2% & stil see the results Im looking for, which is to gain weight & muscle.

Probably because it has carbs. If you look at cream, carbs are very low. Here is a list of dairy carbs:

what is better muscle milk or whey protein?

i cant decide whether using muscle milk, whey protein, or creatine. i weigh 240 lbs so im not sure what is more roughly better. my goal is gaining muscle so it shows, bench pressing more and losing. so im not sure which is the best for me.

Unless your new to bodybuilding, your not going to build muscle and burn fat at the same time, most people LOSE muscle when trying to lose fat.

All three things you listed are different and used for different purposes. Most people use muscle milk as a shake after your workout, but its NOT a post workout shake. These people have no idea what the difference is between muscle milk and whey proteins and when to take them.

Muscle milk has a slow digesting protein in it. Its supposed to be taken at night. They advertise it as a post workout shake, but its not, you need a fast digesting protein after working out. So if you want, use it at night. And why in the world would you take this if your trying to lose weight? Muscle milk has so many calories, you should never use it, not even muscle milk light.

Whey protein: You have to have this one, take two scoops after your workout.

Creatine: If you have not built a lot of muscle, using this is pointless. Get this when you build a decent amount of muscle and it will make you look even bigger. They say this might help a little with weight loss, but for now you dont need it.

So basically what you want to do is this:

Reduce calories and eat healthy, 5-6 small meals a day
Try to workout 5x a week if you can, and do 45 min of cardio after your workouts. No walking, either running or jogging.
