i’m a 28 yr old woman who wants to know is it safe for woman to take maca root and fenugreek?
Is it safe to take them together and with a multi-vitamin? because i heard maca root helps to balance hormones and fenugreek helps to enlarge breast is this all true i really need your help to find out.
it said to take maca and to increase your calorie intake to put on weight that is what i’m trying to do could someone help me please and tell me what i should do?
Fenugreek is even (actually especially) safe for nursing mothers and their babies, so no problem there. Maca root I’ll have to do some research on and get back to you about, as I do not specialize in South American herbs. I seem to remember its effects were similar to that of ginseng, in which case you would want to be very careful with it. You should actually be extremely careful with any herb or substance that has hormonal impact. Herbs are medicines, not something you should seek to use merely to change your physical appearance, unless it’s something like using liver and skin cleansing herbs to deal with acne, which can actually serve to make your body healthier and work better. Fenugreek is typically used by women to increase their supply of breast milk, and to calm digestive upsets in themselves and by extension, their babies who get it through their mama’s breastmilk. Remember this: “The bigger the front, the bigger the back.” This is to say in medicine and healing, the stronger an effect an herb, medicine or drug can have, the more powerful the negative side effects of its ingestion can be. Bigger boobs may be calling to you powerfully, but it’s extremely important you have an understanding of exactly by what mechanism your body would be getting them. Screwing w/ your hormones and chemicals for cosmetic gain, or fooling your body into increasing the size of its breasts by lactating is an extremely poor idea, IMHO. Surgery is an even worse idea. Whatever happened to loving the body one is in? As an example, for some women, increasing their estrogen levels would also increase their risk of developing estrogen-sensitive breast cancers. No hormone in the body has a simple or single effect. Hormones work on multiple organ systems and have multiple, cumulative, oftentimes uncontrollable/unplanned synergystic effects, even plant-based hormones or phyto-estrogens/phytosterols. You’re messing with fire here, dear. Better to go buy a push-up bra or to take belly dancing lessons to charm your mate than to mess with your chemicals. There are actually men who prefer a handful of perfection, however small that might be, to a bucketload of buxom. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If you’d like to boost your health with the range of beneficial properties that Maca provides then you need to decide whether Maca powder or Maca capsules are best for you. This will largely depend on whether you like the taste and consistency of Maca powder when mixed with water or fruit juice (there is very little taste, particularly when mixed with a juice, and the consistency is not unpleasant), or if you prefer the convenience of popping capsules every day. Regardless of your preference, there is not a set recommended dosage of Maca. People tend to take between 1 and 3 grams of Maca powder in a drink between meals every day, or swallow between 2 and 6 Maca capsules between meals every day. You may need to try a low dose at first, monitor the effects and then raise the dosage if needed. Whichever you prefer, powder or capsules, harnessing the benefits of this ancient root has never been easier.
