Daily Diabetes
9 year old daughter has perthes + type 1 diabetes. calpol + nurofen 4 times daily basis any other suggestions?
My 9 year old daughter has type 1 diabetes and was diagnoised with perthes end last year she has been on traction and uses crutches when the pain is really bad, she is on paracetamol and nurofen 4 times a day on a daily basis. Does anyone have any other suggestions to help ease the pain a bit for her.

Do you have a bath? A soak in that with a good handful of epsom salts can really help to unknot muscles and relax the body. Add some lavender essential oil to make it great on a psychological basis too, as this helps to really relax the mind.
Otherwise heatpacks or hot water bottles, a massage is nice too.
A lot of the pain that perthes kids suffer from is the muscles spasming and that could be a low level of magnesium in the body, so a supplement with magnesium in it could help. If she is past fragmentation, then a calcium & magnesium supplement would work best, as the magnesium helps to unkink muscles and the calcium helps them to contract properly. This is why epsom salts is good – its magnesium sulphate.

This is a free booklet to provide to families of children with diabetes to help your child tell others about his or her diabetes diagnosis. The booklet talks about training and educating babysitters and prepare for emergencies, and transitioning into adulthood with major milestones such as dating.

My girlfriend is 6 months pregnant and has diabetes and is on 1 shot daily of humulin and 1000 mg of metformin?
what can she do to lower her blood sugar if it rises and shes already taken her medications for the day?

You should call the doctor if her blood sugar isn’t under control, sooner rather than later. A lot of things could be making her blood sugar fluctuate. Is she eating properly and exercising?
I had gestational diabetes with my youngest child and the only way I could get my blood sugar under control was on a low carb diet. A lot of doctors don’t agree with it but it worked for me. There is a diabetes book by a Dr. Bernstein, Google it. It has been recommended to me by many other diabetics. Good luck to both of you, and congratulations on your upcoming arrival!
