Do people feed they dogs cod liver oil tablets?

(I MEAN THE DOG VERSION, not just poeple’s cod liver oil tablets!!)

I was just wondering, because I read a few places that is it really good for your dog, inside and out. (My dog is a pom if you want to know)

Does anyone give their dog(s) cod liver oil, does it really help them, in looks (eg coat) or make them healthier? And what are they actually meant to do?

Thank you :)

You can give them cod oil. I prefer flax Seed Oil and have given it to every dog I have ever owned (several of which were long haired) but never continually.. It is very good for their coats and for their joints (it acts as a lubricant). That being said if you’re feeding a quality food and getting the dog groomed on a regular basis you shouldn’t need it unless the pup has a deficiency. Be careful with smaller dogs and the amount you give. It can cause upset tummies and defecation troubles.

does the coated-tablet still effective if I break it into two parts and swallow it?

I have film-coated tablets of antibiotic that the doctor gave it to me , but I can not swallow the tablet as a whole (it is too big for me), is it fine to divide it into two parts and swallow it ?

I have a swallowing problem with tablets as well. I don’t think you should break a coated tablet in half because the coating is usually there for a reason. The best thing would be to ask you chemist about it. If you shouldn’t he/she may be able to help you with smaller ones
