Where can I buy boric acid powder in the UK?
We have a huge problem with carpet bugs and understand that boric acid powder is the best to use. Any ideas where I can get this in the UK (London)

Most supermarkets sell it under cleaning materials and laundry products and in the cooking sections along with sodium bicarbonate and tartaric acid and the like.
Around 60p for 100 gram container as a cooking powder.
Any chemist, like Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy and independant chemists sell it because it’s used in some kinds of dressings and for cleaning wounds. A bit more expensive that way because it’s Boric Acid B.P., which a bit purer than the cooking quality.
It’s also used for a paint cleaner, and for laundry as a water softener and that’s the cheapest way to buy it. Look in DIY shops and the supermarkets laundry products section. Around £2 for 500 grams in a cardboard packet, same sort of box as washing soda, which is usually next to it on the shelves or not far away.
To sprinkle it evenly crush it fine (coffee grinders and the like are great for that) and put some in a flour shaker. Easy to do a big area very evenly then.
There is another product called Borax, which is not the same, but has similar uses in paint cleaning and for laundry. Make sure it’s Boric Acid you’re buying, not Borax.

Glycerin can be replaced with KY jelly or non-allergenic face lotion, whatever is available to serve as base to the serum. L-ascorbic acid powder is preferable since vitamin C in tablet form contains fillers that may not be fit to be applied to your skin.
So Easy To Make
With your ingredients ready, dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of the l-ascorbic powder in a bowl or cup of one teaspoon distilled water. Any remaining granules can be dissolved in warm water. Then add and mix one teaspoon of the glycerin, lotion or KY jelly. Viola! You may now apply your fresh anti-aging serum on your face before retiring for the night. Then do not forget to wash it off the following morning.
Things To Remember
When using this serum or any beauty product with l ascorbic acid powder, always remember to put on sunblock as l-ascorbic acid easily deteriorates with light. Never get a tan prior to applying the serum. For the same reason, keep excess serum in a dark container and refrigerate, otherwise just discard it. This is also another reason why making your own anti-aging serum is more practical as you are able to make it just enough for say two to three days, to ensure that what you use is always fresh. In contrast, commercial anti-aging serum is usually bottled in greater quantity, it may oxidize before you can consume all of it. So save that beautiful face from aging while making great savings by making your own anti-aging serum.

You want to put it along base boards and dark areas where roaches tend to crawl or hide. Under the refrigerator is a good place as well as the cabinet under the sink.
Just apply it as a powder. You don’t need to do anything else. It is perfectly safe for your pets and children.
